Street racing has been around since the first car was made. But really didn't take off till the Prohibition era when moonshiners would take there cars and mod them so that they could get away from the cops. Most of the mods that they did to there cars consisted of puting blocks of wood in the spring of the cars to make the car have a stifer ride so they could take corners faster and be able to have a higher top speed.
